How to Worship

  • Gladly
    • Psalms 100:2— Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!
  • With Songs
    • Psalms 100:2— Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!
  • Respectfully, Fearfully
    • Psalms 95:6— Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker!
    • Hebrews 12:28—Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe,
    • II Samuel 6:14, 20—And David danced before the LORD with all his might. And David was wearing a linen ephod… 20 And David returned to bless his household. But Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David and said, “How the king of Israel honored himself today, uncovering himself today before the eyes of his servants’ female servants, as one of the vulgar fellows shamelessly uncovers himself!”
      • It is possible that David was so happy that he accidentally uncovered himself before female servants. This is not disrespectful because He did not know it was happening.
  • Contritely
    • Psalms 51:17— The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.
  • Passionately
    • Exodus 15:20—Then Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a tambourine in her hand, and all the women went out after her with tambourines and dancing.
    • Psalms 95:1-2— Oh come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! 2 Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
    • II Samuel 6:14—And David danced before the LORD with all his might. And David was wearing a linen ephod.
  • With Instruments
    • Psalms 149:3— Let them praise his name with dancing, making melody to him with tambourine and lyre!
  • With Actions
    • Romans 12:1— I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
